Armenian-produced MetaGait recovers the mobility of people with disabilities by creating a gait imitation.
The rehabilitation device, with virtual reality glasses and a specially developed softwarre, transports the patient to different environments where they walk.
The author of MetaGait is “QaylTech” company, which unites a group of specialists: kinesiologists, neurologists, therapists, engineers, who create innovative devices for people with locomotor problems.
The MetaGait device is an improved version of the company's previous product, called the walking simulation device "Qaylaber".
“QaylTech” company is one of the winners of the annual grant program of the “Stepan Gishyan” Charitable Foundation. One of the MetaGait devices was purchased with the support of the Foundation for the laboratory of the State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of Armenia, where scientific research will be carried out.
“The program is related not only to the health sector, but also to the scientific and educational sphere. Here, the teaching staff and students use the MetaGait device as an experimental scientific research device, with the help of which a methodology should be developed, which will enable the rehabilitation therapies to be implemented more effectively in the future,” said Anna Gishyan, Director of the “Stepan Gishyan” Charitable Foundation.
“MetaGait is patented in 157 countries and is an innovation. With the help of MetaGait, people with locomotor problems, appearing in different environments, walk and see their gait. Now we are conducting a scientific study, examining brain changes. Usually, the motor centers of the brain, not receiving information, begin to degenerate. We send information from the visual to the brain. As a result of the study, we will see what positive changes are taking place,” says Davit Arsenyan, the Founder of “QaylTech” company.
The MetaGait application has also been launched for remote rehabilitation treatment, which shows the indicators of patients, rehabilitation dynamics, which helps to organize the methodology and the treatment process more efficiently.
The “Stepan Gishyan” Charitable Foundation was established by Acba Bank, French Credit Agricole, Credit Agricole National Federation and the Gishyan family. The Foundation's programs are aimed at strengthening Armenian-French relations, improving and perfecting Armenia's socio-economic, scientific-educational, cultural and healthcare systems.
